A box of chalk and your inner artist are all you need to help transform Lewisburg’s sidewalks into an open-air art gallery during the Lewisburg Arts Council’s annual Sidewalk Chalk Festival. Rain date: July 9. Artists of all ages are invited to take part in this family- friendly, free and open to the public event. Takes place on Market Street between Second and Fifth streets. Artists may begin working anytime the day of the festival. Be sure to bring your own chalk. To be eligible for prizes, register in advance online at LewisburgArtsCouncil. org or in person on Festival Day in front of Brushstrokes, at 4th and Market, beginning at 11 a.m. Treats for younger registered artists are provided by the Lewisburg Deli and The Cookie Dude. Stop by the registration table to get your treat coupon. Prizes — sponsored by Sholley Insurance Agency, Brushstrokes, and Purity Candy — will be awarded to the top three creations in five age groups. In addition, prizes will go to the artists whose work best fits these special categories: Best Lewisburg theme, best nature theme, best reading or “Oceans of Possibilities” theme. Judging takes place between 6 and 7:45 p.m., with winners announced in front of Brushstrokes at 8 p.m.
Winners do not need to be present. The Lewisburg Cheerleaders will offer face painting as a fundraiser from noon to 2 p.m. near the Post Office. De-PotorLand will perform in front of the Post Office between 6-8 p.m. Bring lawn chairs. Info: LewisburgArtsCouncil.org.
